UK dance music royalty is in the house. A Guy Called Gerald has served up a blistering, acid-tinged vocal House mix for this session. It's Summer of Love vibes from the master who started Europe’s Acid House frenzy, releasing the UK’s first acid house record ‘Voodoo Ray’. A Guy Called Gerald now lives in East London and it's a pleasure to have him pull together this banging mixtape for us.

Off the back of Django Django’s rave reviewed experimental album “Off Planet”, we’ve got a genre-bending mixtape from dummer/producer Dave MacLean. He’s dipped deep into his collection and pulled together a voyage through the ages - jazz, trip hop, funk, psychedelic soul, it’s all in there.

Before Dalston’s Sessions were a thing we collaborated with Deviate DJ’s for a series of weekly lockdown DJ streams. They were a vibe - Dalston’s Sessions V1, if you will. Now Deviate DJ’s are back by popular demand with an 80’s inspired Italo Disco mixtape that’s hotter than Summer in Sorrento. True East Londoners, you can find Deviate dominating the basement nightclubs and pubs in Dalston.

From gracing the decks of some of the best dance music festivals to her vinyl-only NTS Radio Show, London-based Donna Leake has been pegged as one of the very best selectors out there. She has an encyclopaedic knowledge of music, exceptional taste and an uncanny ability to forge unexpected musical links. True to form, Leake’s Dalston’s Session is a genre-fluid and soulful journey.

Dub royalty, Mad Professor, is coming in hot with this vibey mix from his Awira Studios in South London, where he’s overseen more than two hundred albums, including his smashing remix for Massive Attack ‘No Protection’.

Mad Professor has been making waves and music since way back, working with Lee Scratch Perry, Sly & Robbie, and loads more. True to form, his session is a dubby, experimental, soulful masterpiece.

For our next mix we’re thrilled to welcome Anna Prior! She’s the drummer in globally successful band Metronomy, and she’s a DJ and musician in her own right, releasing and remixing. Anna’s monthly radio show, Beat Palace, on London’s Soho Radio has many devoted listeners. Her house led mix here for Dalston’s showcases her intimate relationship with rhythm. Enjoy! 

For the final mix of the initial tranche of the Dalston’s Sessions, we’ve brought in a lynchpin of the East London music scene: Betamax, the rhythmic powerhouse on the drums behind The Comet Is Coming and Soccer96 joins us for a one hour mix. He skirts influences and interests, pulling together a compelling listen.

DoomCannon is the solo venture of South East London based pianist and producer, Dominic Canninng aka @doomcannon. He comes incredibly hotly tipped – his first studio single just dropped on @gillespeterson ’s @brownswood – ahead of a full release later this year.

Co-founder of and sole constant creative presence in The Orb @theorblive – Dr LX Paterson beams down from his lunar module to deliver a one hour mix for the latest Dalston’s Session. This ‘Elderflower’ mix from the electronic maestro sees him reaching for samples, mixing in humour, and delivering a set that will have you moving.

Kasia Konstance is an emerging singer-songwriter and flautist whose music draws on soul, jazz and R&B. Her debut EP ‘Cosmic Dust’ was released in October 2021. She’s a member of Tomorrow’s Warriors Female Frontline, and All Day Breakfast Club, and her music has received support from BBC 6 Music, Jazz FM, Worldwide FM, Red Bull Music, Spotify and more.

Hinako Omori is a musician, composer and producer based in London, originally from Yokohama, Japan. Inspired by ambient and electronic sounds, Hinako loves working with synthesisers and field recordings in her work. This mix sees her pulling together some of my favourite J Pop artists’ music that soundtracked her teenage years from 90’s to early 00’s. J Pop Soda Session!
